EVERYMAN ~ The real story of the Transcontinental Railroad
So often the achievement gets the applause, not the people who made it happen. It’s the titans, not the laborers whose grueling work changed our lives.
It is the desire here to honor all the railroad men and their cultures, in their awe-inspiring building of our first transcontinental railroad. This sculpture gives voice to the voiceless who suffered stunning cold, blistering heat, hunger, meager pay plus Indian raids by tribes not asked or paid for what they considered their land.
